International sourcing

Sourcing stone from India:
start with the evidence.

A practical checklist for importers, builders and specifiers preparing a supplier conversation. It helps organise the questions; it does not certify a supplier or replace project-specific professional advice.

Define the finished requirement

Describe the application, quantity, finish, dimensions and delivery sequence before comparing offers. Ask each supplier to state what is included in the quotation: processing, packing, transport and other agreed services. Keep unanswered questions visible.

Identify the material being offered

Ask whether a sample or image represents a particular lot or a general material family. Agree the lot reference, selection evidence, date and measurement method. Request documentation relevant to the actual application and understand what it covers.

Record the agreement

Put the material references, finish, dimensions, documented tolerances and approval process in writing. Identify who can approve substitutions and how discrepancies will be raised. A supplier profile is background information; it does not establish the condition of a particular shipment.

Prepare the handover

Agree package identifiers, packing information and the receiving contact. Confirm destination-specific documentation and logistics with the responsible freight, customs and project professionals before committing. Requirements depend on the transaction and destination.

Keep learning before the next order
